The Sage said :

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 001 ॥
Sanskrit
त्रिगुणा तामसी देवी सात्त्विकी या त्वयोदिता।
सा शर्वा चण्डिका दुर्गा भद्रा भगवतीर्यते॥ १॥
Transliteration
triguṇā tāmasī devī sāttvikī yā tvayoditā |
sā śarvā caṇḍikā durgā bhadrā bhagavatīryate ॥ 1॥
English Translation
1.The Goddess who is triply classified as the one composed of the three guṇas, the one predominant in tamas and the one predominant in satva is mentioned as Śarvā, Caṇḍikā, Durgā, Bhadrā and Bhagavatī.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 002॥
Sanskrit
योगनिद्रा हरेरुक्ता महाकाली तमोगुणा।
मधुकैटभनाशार्थं यां तुष्टावाम्बुजासनः॥ २॥
Transliteration
yoganidrā hareruktā mahākālī tamoguṇā |
madhukaiṭabhanāśārthaṁ yāṁ tuṣṭāvāmbujāsanaḥ ॥ 2॥
English Translation
2.The one whom Brahmā of the lotus - seat praised for the purpose of destroying Madhu and Kaitabha, she is said to be Viṣṇu’s superconscient sleep, Mahākālī in whom tamas predominates.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 003 ॥
Sanskrit
दशवक्त्रा दशभुजा दशपादाञ्जनप्रभा।
विशालया राजमाना त्रिंशल्लोचनमालया॥ ३॥
Transliteration
daśavaktrā daśabhujā daśapādāñjanaprabhā |
viśālayā rājamānā triṁśallocanamālayā ॥ 3॥
English Translation
3.She has ten faces, ten arms, ten feet and has the lustre of collyrium. She shines with her thirty large eyes knit like a garland.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 004 ॥
Sanskrit
स्फुरद्दशनदंष्ट्रा सा भीमरूपापि भूमिप।
रूपसौभाग्यकान्तीनां सा प्रतिष्ठा महाश्रियाम्॥ ४॥
Transliteration
sphuraddaśanadaṁṣṭrā sā bhīmarūpāpi bhūmipa |
rūpasaubhāgyakāntīnā sā pratiṣṭhāṁ mahāśriyām ॥ 4॥
English Translation
4.Protector of the world, though she is terrible in appearance with her glittering teeth and fangs, she is the mainstay of the great opulence of beauty, auspiciousness and luster.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 005 ॥

खड्गबाणगदाशूलशङ्खचक्रभुशुडिभृत्।
परिघं कार्मुकं शीर्षं निश्चोतद्रुधिरं दधौ॥ ५॥
Transliteration
khaḍgabāṇagadāśūlaśaṅkhacakrabhuśuḍibhṛt |
parighaṁ kārmukaṁ śīrṣaṁ niścotadrudhiraṁ dadhau ॥ 5॥
English Translation
5.She wields the sword, the shaft, the mace, the conch, the discus and the sling, She bears also the iron club, the bow and the head dripping with blood.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 006 ॥
Sanskrit
एषा सा वैष्णवी माया महाकाली दुरत्यया।
आराधिता वशीकुर्यात्पूजाकर्तुश्चराचरम्॥ ६॥
Transliteration
eṣā sā vaiṣṇavī māyā mahākālī duratyayā |
ārādhitā vaśīkuryātpūjākartuścarācaram ॥ 6॥
English Translation
6.She is the delusion of Viṣṇu, the impassable, Mahākālī. If worshipped she will bring under the control of the worshipper all the mobile and the immobile in the universe.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 007 ॥

सर्वदेवशरीरेभ्यो याऽऽविर्भूताऽमितप्रभा।
त्रिगुणा सा महालक्ष्मीः साक्षान्महिषमर्दिनी॥ ७॥
Transliteration
sarvadevaśarīrebhyo yā’‘virbhūtā’mitaprabhā |
triguṇā sā mahālakṣmīḥ sākṣānmahiṣamardinī ॥ 7॥
English Translation
7.The one who manifested out of the bodies of all the gods with immeasurable light, she is Mahālakṣmī containing the three guṇas, verily the destroyer of Mahiṣa.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 008 ॥
Sanskrit
श्वेतानना नीलभुजा सुश्वेतस्तनमण्डला।
रक्तमध्या रक्तपादा रक्तजङ्घोरुरुन्मदा॥ ८॥
Transliteration
śvetānanā nīlabhujā suśvetastanamaṇḍalā |
raktamadhyā raktapādā raktajaṅghorurunmadā ॥ 8॥
English Translation
8.Her face white, arms black and the breasts extremely white, she has her hip red, her feet red, her shanks and thighs red. She is the form of supreme delight.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 009 ॥

सुचित्रजघना चित्रमाल्याम्बरविभूषणा।
चित्रानुलेपना कान्तिरूपसौभाग्यशालिनी॥ ९॥
Transliteration
sucitrajaghanā citramālyāmbaravibhūṣaṇā |
citrānulepanā kāntirūpasaubhāgyaśālinī ॥ 9॥
English Translation
9.Her lap is of varied hues. Her garland, garment, ornament, smearing on the body all are of various hues. She is full of lustre, beauty and auspiciousness.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 010 ॥

अष्टादशभुजा पूज्या सा सहस्रभुजा सती।
आयुधान्यत्र वक्ष्यन्ते दक्षिणाधःकरक्रमात्॥ १०॥
Transliteration
aṣṭādaśabhujā pūjyā sā sahasrabhujā satī |
āyudhānyatra vakṣyante dakṣiṇādhaḥkarakramāt ॥ 10॥
English Translation
10.Though she is possessed of thousand arms, she should be worshipped as one with eighteen arms. The weapons are now enumerated from the bottommost right hand.

अक्षमाला च कमलं बाणोऽसिः कुलिशं गदा।
चक्रं त्रिशूलं परशुः शङ्खो घण्टा च पाशकः॥ ११॥

akṣamālā ca kamalaṁ bāṇo’siḥ kuliśaṁ gadā |
cakraṁ triśūlaṁ paraśuḥ śaṅkho ghaṇṭā ca pāśakaḥ ॥ 11॥
English Translation
11.The garland of beads, lotus, shaft, sword, thunderbolt, mace, discus, trident, battle axe, conch, bell, noose,

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 012 ॥

शक्तिर्दण्डश्चर्म चापं पानपात्रं कमण्डलुः।
अलङ्कृतभुजामेभिरायुधैः कमलासनाम्॥ १२॥
Transliteration
śaktirdaṇḍaścarma cāpaṁ pānapātraṁ kamaṇḍaluḥ |
alaṅkṛtabhujāmebhirāyudhaiḥ kamalāsanām ॥ 12॥
English Translation
12.The lance, staff, shield, bow, drinking vessel, water - pot with these weapons her arms are adorned and her seat is on the lotus.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 013 ॥
Sanskrit
सर्वदेवमयीमीशां महालक्ष्मीमिमां नृप।
पूजयेत्सर्वलोकानां स देवानां प्रभुर्भवेत्॥ १३॥
Transliteration
sarvadevamayīmīśāṁ mahālakṣmīmimāṁ nṛpa |
pūjayetsarvalokānāṁ sa devānāṁ prabhurbhavet ॥ 13॥
English Translation
13.O king, one who worships this Mahālakṣmī, the Goddess come out of all the gods, he will become the master of all the worlds and the gods.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 014 ॥
Sanskrit
गौरीदेहात्समुद्भूता या सत्त्वैकगुणाश्रया।
साक्षात्सरस्वती प्रोक्ता शुम्भासुरनिबर्हिणी॥ १४॥
Transliteration
gaurīdehātsamudbhūtā yā sattvaikaguṇāśrayā |
sākṣātsarasvatī proktā śumbhāsuranibarhiṇī ॥ 14॥
English Translation
14.The one who was born out of the body of Gaurī having as her base only the sattva guṇa, she is verily Mahāsarasvatī, the slayer of Śumbhāsura.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 015 ॥
Sanskrit
दधौ चाष्टभुजा बाणान्मुसलं शूलचक्रभृत्।
शङ्खं घण्टां लाङ्गलं च कार्मुकं वसुधाधिप॥ १५॥
Transliteration
dadhau cāṣṭabhujā bāṇānmusalaṁ śūlacakrabhṛt |
śaṅkhaṁ ghaṇṭāṁ lāṅgalaṁ ca kārmukaṁ vasudhādhipa ॥ 15॥
English Translation
15.O, the lord of the earth, she wields in her eight arms, arrows, pestle, trident, discus, conch, bell, ploughshare and the bow.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 016 ॥
Sanskrit
एषा सम्पूजिता भक्त्या सर्वज्ञत्वं प्रयच्छति।
निशुम्भमथिनी देवी शुम्भासुरनिबर्हिणी॥ १६॥
Transliteration
eṣā sampūjitā bhaktyā sarvajñatvaṁ prayacchati |
niśumbhamathinī devī śumbhāsuranibarhiṇī ॥ 16॥
English Translation
16.This is the goddess who crushed Niśumbha and killed the Asura Śumbha. If she is worshipped with devotion, she grants omniscience to the worshipper.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 017 ॥
Sanskrit
इत्युक्तानि स्वरूपाणि मूर्तीनां तव पार्थिव।
उपासनं जगन्मातुः पृथगासां निशामय॥ १७॥
Transliteration
ityuktāni svarūpāṇi mūrtīnāṁ tava pārthiva |
upāsanaṁ jaganmātuḥ pṛthagāsāṁ niśāmaya ॥ 17॥
English Translation
17.O king, the forms these embodiments have thus been told. Hear and know the worship of the World - mother as well as of these embodiments distinctly.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 018 ॥
Sanskrit
महालक्ष्मीर्यदा पूज्या महाकाली सरस्वती।
दक्षिणोत्तरयोः पूज्ये पृष्ठतो मिथुनत्रयम्॥ १८॥
Transliteration
mahālakṣmīryadā pūjyā mahākālī sarasvatī |
dakṣiṇottarayoḥ pūjye pṛṣṭhato mithunatrayam ॥ 18॥
English Translation
18.When Mahālakṣmī is worshipped, you have to worship on her right and left Mahākālī and Mahasarasvatī, at the back of these three the three couples.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 019॥
Sanskrit
विरञ्चिः स्वरया मध्ये रुद्रो गौर्या च दक्षिणे।
वामे लक्ष्म्या हृषीकेशः पुरतो देवतात्रयम्॥ १९॥
Transliteration
virañciḥ svarayā madhye rudro gauryā ca dakṣiṇe |
vāme lakṣmyā hṛṣīkeśaḥ purato devatātrayam ॥ 19॥
English Translation
19.At the back, in the middle, Brahmā with Sarasvatī, on the right, Rudra with Gaurī and on the left Vishnu with Lakṣmī. In the front the three goddesses.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 020 ॥
Sanskrit
अष्टादशभुजा मध्ये वामे चास्या दशानना।
दक्षिणेऽष्टभुजा लक्ष्मीर्महतीति समर्चयेत्॥ २०॥
Transliteration
aṣṭādaśabhujā madhye vāme cāsyā daśānanā |
dakṣiṇe’ṣṭabhujā lakṣmīrmahatīti samarcayet ॥ 20॥
English Translation
20.(In the front), in the middle, the eighteen armed. To her left the ten - faced and on the right the eight - armed. Mahālakṣmī has to be worshipped as the important deity.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 021॥
Sanskrit
अष्टादशभुजा चैषा यदा पूज्या नराधिप।
दशानना चाष्टभुजा दक्षिणोत्तरयोस्तदा॥ २१॥
Transliteration
aṣṭādaśabhujā caiṣā yadā pūjyā narādhipa |
daśānanā cāṣṭabhujā dakṣiṇottarayostadā ॥ 21॥
English Translation
21.O master of men, when this eighteen - armed one and on right and left the ten - faced and the eight - armed are worshipped,

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 022 ॥
Sanskrit
कालमृत्यू च सम्पूज्यौ सर्वारिष्टप्रशान्तये।
यदा चाष्टभुजा पूज्या शुम्भासुरनिबर्हिणी॥ २२॥
Transliteration
kālamṛtyū ca sampūjyau sarvāriṣṭapraśāntaye |
yadā cāṣṭabhujā pūjyā śumbhāsuranibarhiṇī ॥ 22॥
English Translation
22.Kāla, time and Mṛtyu, death have to be worshipped for mitigating all calamities. When the eight armed, the slayer of Asura Śumbha is worshipped.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 023॥
Sanskrit
नवास्याः शक्तयः पूज्यास्तदा रुद्रविनायकौ।
नमो देव्या इति स्तोत्रैर्महालक्ष्मीं समर्चयेत्॥ २३॥
Transliteration
navāsyāḥ śaktayaḥ pūjyāstadā rudravināyakau |
namo devyā iti stotrairmahālakṣmīṁ samarcayet ॥ 23॥
English Translation
23.Her nine Śaktis have to be worshipped as well as Rudra and Vināyaka. Mahālakṣmī should be worshipped with the laud commencing namo devyai.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 024 ॥
Sanskrit
अवतारत्रयार्चायां स्तोत्रमन्त्रास्तदाश्रयाः।
अष्टादशभुजा चैषा पूज्या महिषमर्दिनी॥ २४॥
Transliteration
avatāratrayārcāyāṁ stotramantrāstadāśrayāḥ |
aṣṭādaśabhujā caiṣā pūjyā mahiṣamardinī ॥ 24॥
English Translation
24.In the worship of the three manifestations, the lauds mentioned in the three episodes should relate to the respective manifestations. This destroyer of Mahiṣa, of eighteen arms has to be specially worshipped.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 025 ॥
Sanskrit
महालक्ष्मीर्महाकाली सैव प्रोक्ता सरस्वती।
ईश्वरी पुण्यपापानां सर्वलोकमहेश्वरी॥ २५॥
Transliteration
mahālakṣmīrmahākālī saiva proktā sarasvatī |
īśvarī puṇyapāpānāṁ sarvalokamaheśvarī ॥ 25॥
English Translation
25.She herself is called as Mahākālī, Mahālakṣmī and Mahāsarasvatī. She is the Great Goddess of all the worlds, the dispenser of merit and sin.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 026 ॥
Sanskrit
महिषान्तकरी येन पूजिता स जगत्प्रभुः।
पूजयेज्जगतां धात्रीं चण्डिकां भक्तवत्सलाम्॥ २६॥
Transliteration
mahiṣāntakarī yena pūjitā sa jagatprabhuḥ |
pūjayejjagatāṁ dhātrīṁ caṇḍikāṁ bhaktavatsalām ॥ 26॥
English Translation
26.One who worships the destroyer of Mahiṣa becomes the lord of the world. One should worship Caṇḍikā, endearing to the devotees, the sustainer and upholder of the worlds-

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 027 ॥
Sanskrit
अर्घ्यादिभिरलङ्कारैर्गन्धपुष्पैस्तथोत्तमैः।
धूपैर्दीपैश्च नैवेद्यैर्नानाभक्ष्यसमन्वितैः॥ २७॥
Transliteration
arghyādibhiralaṅkārairgandhapuṣpaistathottamaiḥ |
dhūpairdīpaiśca naivedyairnānābhakṣyasamanvitaiḥ ॥ 27॥
English Translation
27.By Arghya etc., by decking with ornaments, by sandal paste, flowers, by the best incense, lamps, by offerings of food containing various eatables,

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 028 ॥
Sanskrit
रुधिराक्तेन बलिना मांसेन सुरया नृप।
प्रणामाचमनीयेन चन्दनेन सुगन्धिना॥ २८॥
Transliteration
rudhirāktena balinā māṁsena surayā nṛpa |
praṇāmācamanīyena candanena sugandhinā ॥ 28॥
English Translation
28.By offering of sacrifice steeped in blood, by flesh, by wine, by salutations, sipping of water, fragrant sandal,

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 029-030-031 ॥
Sanskrit
सकर्पूरैश्च ताम्बूलैर्भक्तिभावसमन्वितैः।
वामभागेऽग्रतो देव्याश्छिन्नशीर्षं महासुरम्॥ २९॥
पूजयेन्महिषं येन प्राप्तं सायुज्यमीशया।
दक्षिणे पुरतः सिंहं समग्रं धर्ममीश्वरम्॥ ३०॥
वाहनं पूजयेद्देव्या धृतं येन चराचरम्।
ततः कृताञ्जलिर्भूत्वा स्तुवीत चरितैरिमैः॥ ३१॥
Transliteration
sakarpūraiśca tāmbūlairbhaktibhāvasamanvitaiḥ |
vāmabhāge’grato devyāśchinnaśīrṣaṁ mahāsuram ॥ 29॥
pūjayenmahiṣaṁ yena prāptaṁ sāyujyamīśayā |
dakṣiṇe purataḥ siṁhaṁ samagraṁ dharmamīśvaram ॥ 30॥
vāhanaṁ pūjayeddevyā dhṛtaṁ yena carācaram |
tataḥ kṛtāñjalirbhūtvā stuvīta caritairimaiḥ ॥ 31॥
English Translation
29-31. By offering tambūla with camphor - with an attitude of devotion in all these acts. In front of the Goddess, on the left side, one should worship the great Asura Mahiṣa whose head had been severed by the Goddess and who had attained union with her. In front on the right, one should worship the vehicle of the Goddess, the lion which is no other than the whole mighty Dharma upholding and sustaining the mobile and the immobile. Then with folded hands one should offer prayers with these episodes.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 032॥
Sanskrit
एकेन वा मध्यमेन नैकेनेतरयोरिह।
चरितार्धं तु न जपेज्जपञ्छिद्रमवाप्नुयात्॥ ३२॥
Transliteration
ekena vā madhyamena naikenetarayoriha |
caritārdhaṁ tu na japejjapañchidramavāpnuyāt ॥ 32॥
English Translation
32.Or by the middle episode alone; but not by any one of the other episodes. One should not stop recital in the middle of an episode. If he does so, it will be a chink in his armour.
**
॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 033 ॥
Sanskrit
स्तोत्रमन्त्रैः स्तुवीतेमां यदि वा जगदम्बिकाम्।
प्रदक्षिणानमस्कारान्कृत्वा मूर्घ्नि कृताञ्जलिः॥ ३३॥
Transliteration
stotramantraiḥ stuvītemāṁ yadi vā jagadambikām |
pradakṣiṇānamaskārānkṛtvā mūrghni kṛtāñjaliḥ ॥ 33॥
English Translation
33.Or else, he should go round the deity with reverence, offer salutations and with hands folded on the head pray to the World - mother by means of the lauds.
**
॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 034 ॥
Sanskrit
क्षमापयेज्जगद्धात्रीं मुहुर्मुहुरतन्द्रितः।
प्रतिश्लोकं च जुहुयात्पायसं तिलसर्पिषा॥ ३४॥
Transliteration
kṣamāpayejjagaddhātrīṁ muhurmuhuratandritaḥ |
pratiślokaṁ ca juhuyātpāyasaṁ tilasarpiṣā ॥ 34॥
English Translation
34.Again and again, without any lassitude one should seek the pardon of the sustainer of the worlds. With each verse he should offer in the fire oblations of rice cooked in milk, sesamum and ghee.
**
॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 035 ॥
Sanskrit
जुहुयात्स्तोत्रमन्त्रैर्वा चण्डिकायै शुभं हविः।
नमो नमःपदैर्देवीं पूजयेत्सुसमाहितः॥ ३५॥
Transliteration
juhuyātstotramantrairvā caṇḍikāyai śubhaṁ haviḥ |
namonamaḥpadairdevīṁ pūjayetsusamāhitaḥ ॥ 35॥
English Translation
35.Or with the verses of the lauds he can offer the auspicious oblations to Caṇḍikā. He should withdraw into himself, concentrate utter the words namo namaḥ " salutations, salutations " and worship the Devi.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 036 ॥
Sanskrit
प्रयतः प्राञ्जलिः प्रह्वः प्राणानारोप्य चात्मनि।
सुचिरं भावयेद्देवीं चण्डिकां तन्मयो भवेत्॥ ३६॥
Transliteration
prayataḥ prāñjaliḥ prahvaḥ prāṇānāropya cātmani |
suciraṁ bhāvayeddevīṁ caṇḍikāṁ tanmayo bhavet ॥ 36॥
English Translation
36.Controlled, with folded hands, highly plastic with a surrendered attitude, he should impose his Prāṇa on his Self and meditate on the Goddess Caṇḍikā for quite a long time. He will become full of her.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 037 ॥
Sanskrit
एवं यः पूजयेद्भक्त्या प्रत्यहं परमेश्वरीम्।
भुक्त्वा भोगान् यथाकामं देवीसायुज्यमाप्नुयात्॥ ३७॥
Transliteration
evaṁ yaḥ pūjayedbhaktyā pratyahaṁ parameśvarīm |
bhuktvā bhogān yathākāmaṁ devīsāyujyamāpnuyāt ॥ 37॥
English Translation
37.One who worships thus daily, the supreme Goddess experiences all enjoyments to his heart’s content and attains union with the Goddess.
**
॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 038 ॥
Sanskrit
यो न पूजयते नित्यं चण्डिकां भक्तवत्सलाम्।
भस्मीकृत्यास्य पुण्यानि निर्दहेत्परमेश्वरी॥ ३८॥
Transliteration
yo na pūjayate nityaṁ caṇḍikāṁ bhaktavatsalām |
bhasmīkṛtyāsya puṇyāni nirdahetparameśvarī ॥ 38॥
English Translation
38.If one does not worship daily Caṇḍikā, endearing to the devotees, the supreme Goddess reduces to ashes his merits and consumes him.

॥vaikṛtikaṁ rahasyaṁ॥ Śloka 039 ॥
Sanskrit
तस्मात्पूजय भूपाल सर्वलोकमहेश्वरीम्।
यथोक्तेन विधानेन चण्डिकां सुखमाप्स्यसि॥ ३९॥
Transliteration
tasmātpūjaya bhūpāla sarvalokamaheśvarīm |
yathoktena vidhānena caṇḍikāṁ sukhamāpsyasi ॥ 39॥
English Translation
